This is the true story of a woman sent to prison accuses of being a witch when she was a well-known and proven psychic. During WWII Helen's accurate 'death notices' were verified countless times. When she materialized the full form of a sailor with the name H.M.S. BARHAM on his cap, a ship, which the English government denied, had been sunk; she was arrested and jailed as a spy and then a witch. Even after she was proven correct, she was held as a witch. Her story is still unfolding today and is documented here.members.tripod.com/~helenduncan/index.htmlThis is the story of an amazing woman who has become known as Scotland's Last Witch. I find it absolutely incredible that at a time when Britain was fighting for its very existance against Hitler's Nazi War Machine, that such dim-witted and ignorant people could waste so much of the countries extremely overstretched resources on pursuing a prosecution against Helen Duncan using what was, even in them days, an antiquated law, the 1735 Witchcraft Act. More baffling was that they succeeded in securing a prosecution

Fascinating story Dave. I've never heard of Helen before this but she certainly has a fascinating story. It's always amazed me how some people (even those that benefit from a psychic's help) refuse to believe and actually persecute people with these special gifts. I think it's just fear and/or jealousy that makes them persecute psychics.
Good for Churchill for changing the law and standing up for Helen. He was a true Statesman. I'm pleased he stood up for his friend....(but then again, you know how I feel about friends speaking up for friends!)
Fascinating topic Dave...Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
