I'm not big into Sci-Fi as a rule but my brother is and he gave me two books by Neil Gaiman for my birthday. I loved them both! The first one he raved about is called "Neverwhere" and it was also made into a television film by the BBC. The film version was actually quite good and I recommend it as well as the book. For those of you not familiar with it, it tells the story of a "princess" from an underground world and her adventures in the above ground world escaping from killers out to assassinate her. Excellent read!
The second book is more of a fairytale/sci-fi book. It's called Stardust...and I loved this book. It's about a journey and about finding our place in the world. (one of my fav parts is when the star/fairy falls from the night sky...the protaganist hears her fall with a thud and she says..."ouch...f**k.....ouch!" lol) Light easy read.
