The story I'm about to relate happened several years ago when my son was about 2 years old. He is my only child and as any new mother I was (and still am) totally devoted to him. I really think there is a special bond and connection between mothers and their children, particularly between mothers and their sons. (lol...No, Dave, I'm not suggesting that there is less of a bond between fathers and their children, just that for me at least, there is a special bond between my son and myself....just in case you were thinking that as you read my statement... ;D )
We had just moved into a new home (the one we're back living in now) and there were still many boxes left lying around not unpacked yet. The house looked like a warehouse! I wasn't working at the time and was sleeping in one morning as was my son. His father had left earlier for work so it was just my son in his crib in his room and me in my bedroom.
It was my son's habit when he woke every morning to stand up and call out to me saying, "mommy, get me out my cribbie." Upon hearing him through the baby monitor gizmo set up in his room I would go in and get him out of his crib to start the day. He did this every morning, without fail from the time he could speak.
The particular morning I'm speaking about as I was just waking up from sleep I had been dreaming about my mother visiting to help me unpack all the boxes still lying around the house. I guess I was so concerned about unpacking it even entered my dreams to get some help from mom. As I was waking up I heard my son call out as he did every morning to be taken out of his crib but this morning he called out something a little different. I heard him say, "Gamma, get me out my cribbie." Gamma was his word for my mother, his grandmother. The moment I was waking from a dream which featured my mother in it, my son called out for his grandmother to take him out of his crib. He called out once again for "Gamma" and I was fully awake now. I went into his room and got him from his crib. I couldn't really talk to him and ask why he called out for his grandmother when she wasn't there and he had never called out for her before like that, but I sincerely believe that he was tuned into my thoughts and "saw" my mother in my dream. I think that's why he called out for her thinking she was in our home from seeing her in my thoughts.
This same sort of thing happened several times when he was younger and for me it just confirms the theory I have about mothers and children having a special psychic bond with each other.
