I was born and still live in Chico, California in the Northern part (and no I don't surf or live near the beach). I believe this to be one of the best small towns that exist with lots to do. it's not too small with over 120,000 population when college is in town There's a saying here about the locals which is basically if you try to leave you'll always be back because you will never find any place better. existenceisadream

Hey Lilacsky, what's the population where you live? The 120,000 is really more than it feels because that's including the urban area and college students. It really feels like a small enough town but still has enough people to not feel like a really small town. I would never want to live in a big city though. That's just too crazy. I have a dream of living in a house on the beach in maybe in Oregon. I feel living right next to the beach would bring such postive and good evergy. I moved last November for my first time away from my home town and was trying to go to school on the coast but only made it to about an hour away which just wasn't food enough.

That's funny after reading the last sentence in the last post which reads "which just wasn't food enough it was supposed to be close enough and I'm really hungry right know. Even my sub-conscious is trying to pry me from this computer.

I have to disagree with vhaeraun. While I've never lived in his area of NY, I was born and raised in NYC....Brooklyn to be exact, and I've always loved living in NYC. I've traveled around the world and visited many towns and cities and I've lived in Melbourne, Australia for several years. I guess I'm a "city gal" because I love living in the big cities. I like to get away from time to time and go into the country but I always make my way back to the city.
For me, NYC is the greatest city in the world. It's where I was born and raised. It's where you can spend a day tasting food from all over the world...seeing films....walking the halls of great museums....strolling in Central Park...window shopping at Tiffanys and Macys...stopping in at Saint Patrick's Cathedral....ice skating at the rink in Rockefeller Centre....Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Times Square, Trump Tower, The Waldorf Hotel, The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Museum. You can have a cappucino at a cafe in Little Italy, lunch in Chinatown and dinner at Tavern on the Green. You can see the posh people on 5th Avenue Uptown and the punk rockers in The Village downtown. You can see Opera, Ballet, Theatre or street musicians at any time.
For me it's the greatest...you can do everything or nothing whenever you like. I think it's all relative and everyone wants different things, so wherever you call home is the best place to live. Cheers!
